Self-Management

In a single phrase, we can define self management as " Art of managing ourselves at the work place". It also plays a major role in our personal life also. For every employee, or an individual, there should be goal in his/her life. In order to achieve that goal, he/she should plan and schedule activities in an efficient manner. Planning / scheduling are not enough for successful accomplishment of a task, but proper management is a must. If that criteria is been matched, then the individual won't be having any sort of trouble in reaching his/her goals.

Following are some of the attributes that has proved to be worth while for "effectively managing ourselves".
1. Commitment for lifelong learning:- A person should be a life long learner. He/She should develop his/her skills in a continuous manner from various sources.
2.Creating Value:- Bringing innovative ideas to make business stands out from their competitors.
3. Value-added relationships:- There should be a set of networks around a person so that he can acquire valuable ideas and insights from various experts in the field. So that he can improve constantly.
4. He/She should always be ready to bring changes to the organization.

With these attributes a person can become a valuable asset to an organization or a social setting. An employer can develop "self-managed culture" in their organizations by following methods.
1. Self-directed work teams
2. Decentralized decision making
3. Employee empowerment
4. Eliminating "politics" within the firm and so on.

After all, the sole responsibility to develop oneself lies upon each person itself. Despite of every stressful situation, he/she must be able to explore new ways to develop and enhance their skill-sets.
